BENNEWITH (FOWLER)

Amye Smith

1935 ~ 2008

It is with great sadness, the family of Amye Smith Bennewith (Fowler) announces her passing on January 24, 2008. Amye was born September 8, 1935 in North Battleford, Saskatchewan to Tom and Mary Fowler.

Amye is survived by her two daughters Cheryl Bennewith (Jim Burns), Leigh Bennewith and her son Lance Bennewith; her two "favourites:" granddaughter Michelle Burns and grandson Logan Burns; her brother Tom Fowler (Midge) and his family.

Amye was a schoolteacher for many years in Agassiz, B.C. She later began a new career as a single parent and owner/operator of Tom's House of Pizza. Amye then spent a few years in retirement before returning to the work force as a runner/courier for Simpson & Simpson, Notaries Public where she loved and thrived in all the camaraderie. Amye then decided to support her daughter, Cheryl, in her office as a bookkeeper, runner/courier, and confidante.

In her spare time, Amye took great pleasure in watching, coaching, and re-hashing Leigh's softball journey. She also bowled and enjoyed spending time in the shuswap with Tom creating the "gardens on the lake." Amye's most favourite past time, however was being at a good party accompanied with a strong drink and smoke.

A celebration of Amye's life was held on Wednesday January 30, 2008 at Henderson's Funeral Home, 45901 Victoria Ave, Chilliwack.

Thank you to the special nurses in the ICU and Dr. Gord Enns for taking care of the "Princess".
