August 28, 1943 - May 31, 2024
Robert (Bob) Allan Loat passed away suddenly on May 31, 2024, at the age of 80, in his garden doing what he loved. Born August 28, 1943, in Victoria, BC to Gordon and Helen Loat, Bob enlisted in the Armed Forces in Grade 12 (1960), and was recruited to the Royal Canadian Engineers Band, playing the euphonium and trombone. He married Doreen Johnson in 1964 and they had three children. Bob and his family lived in Calgary, Colorado Springs, and Chilliwack. After retiring from the army, Bob became a school bus driver in Chilliwack. Doreen passed away suddenly in 2009 and Bob retired soon thereafter. Marrying Marion Fraser in 2013, he joined the Fraser clan, stuffed full of children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Bob was an avid vegetable gardener, a professional musician, proud father, and friend to many. He was a great admirer of all things related to railroads and became an accomplished photographer by capturing trains on film. He will be missed greatly.
Bob is survived by his wife Marion; his sister Catherine Jefferies (Jeff); eight children (Trevor, Dave, Pamela, Ian, Cindy, Robert, Nadine, and Andrea); and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
