TAYLOR, Douglas Kendall

Douglas Kendall Taylor passed away peacefully with his loving family at his side. He died as he lived, with courage and dignity, after 90 wonderful years of sharing, giving and leading by his example in his quiet strong way. Doug was greatly respected and admired. He will be missed by his family, friends and cousins. He is survived by Isa, his wife of 62 years, his sons Brian (Carol), John (Myrna) and daughter Carla Termes (Mark) and grandchildren Tierre, Jay, Ryan, Laura and Taylor and former daughter-in-law Glennis.

A long time Fraser Valley resident, Doug was born in Weyburn, Saskatchewan on December 1, 1916. He spent his childhood years in Victoria, later attending UVic, UBC (Sigma Tau), and U of Alberta. He served overseas during WW2 as a navigator in the RCAF. After the war he settled in Agassiz as a research agronomist at the government agricultural research station. In 1953 he spent two yeas with his young family at WSU in Pullman, Washington working on his PhD. After a busy life of raising a family, participating in church, school board, recreational commission and hospital board activities, he retired in 1978.

In retirement he enjoyed gardening, golf, travel and continued to participate with and consult for various turfgrass organizations.

Special thanks to Dr. Larsen and the great team of home care nurses who provided such loving and professional care. Also to the knowledgeable and caring nurses at Chilliwack General Hospital. A memorial service was held at the Agassiz United Church on Saturday, 10 February 2007 at 1:30 pm.
