It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Edwin (Ed) James Bell at the age of 90 years on August 31, 2020.
Ed grew up in Burnaby and graduated from Burnaby North High School.
He played all sports and was on four junior Canadian national teams; two soccer and two lacrosse. Ed also won the Minto Cup in 1948 while playing for the Vancouver Burrards. He also coached lacrosse, soccer and was a Cub leader in Burnaby.
In Ed's retirement years he was an avid golfer and spent most of his winters in Arizona and Palm Springs with his wife Bernice. Back home, they spent most of their time at Harrison Holiday Park and Ed spent many a day at the Harrison Golf Course with his golfing buddies.
Ed had a very competitive nature but always had a big smile and kind word for everyone he met.
He will be greatly missed by his wife Bernice, his son Kelly, daughter Trish (Jim), 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Ed will also be fondly remembered by Bernice's family and his many friends. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Ed's name to the BC Children's Hospital Foundation
