Gary James Lakeberg

In loving memory ~

Gary James LAKEBERG passed away peacefully on April 5th, 2025 at Cottage Pavilion in Abbotsford, BC, in his 76th year. Gary was born September 8th, 1949 at St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver, BC to Jeaneva and Walter Lakeberg.

Gary is a descendent of the pioneer Green family of Agassiz, where he spent his first six years. He then lived in Vancouver for several years. Gary trained as a heavy duty mechanic and lived in many different remote mining and logging camps, including Hyder, Alaska.

He returned to Agassiz in 1995 and lived at Dogwood Manor for a few years before moving to Chilliwack. He became a resident of Cottage Pavilion in 2021 and enjoyed his time there. He very much appreciated the kindness and caring shown to him. He was known for his warm heart and quiet strength and was well liked by all staff and volunteers.

Although Gary had no children of his own, he was a beloved brother and uncle. Gary is survived by his sister Valerie Edmondson and children Shelley (Aaron), Deanne (Steve), Jeffrey (Heather), and Lanette (Leo). He is also survived by his sister Debbie Lakeberg and her daughter Crystal and children Kedith and Megan (Jacob). Gary will be lovingly remembered by his many great-nieces and great-nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at Henderson's Funeral Home in Chilliwack on Monday, April 14th, 2025 at 11 am with reception to follow. All who knew and loved Gary are welcome to attend and celebrate his life. Burial will be at Valley View Cemetery in Agassiz.
