May 28, 1943 - September 17, 2018
It is with love, sadness, and wonderful memories that we announce the passing of Georges Huwyler. He died peacefully on September 17, 2018 surrounded by the love of his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Susie, of 51 years and his children Andre (Fiona) and Renee (Brent). Georges was a cherished grandfather to 3 wonderful children: Alivia, Zoe, and Cedric. He is also survived by his 2 brothers, 2 sisters, extended family in Switzerland, and dear friends here at home.

Georges was born in Sursee, Switzerland where he trained as a pastry chef and chocolatier. After marrying in March 1967 in Switzerland, Georges and Susie came to Canada with a sense of adventure and desire to see the world. After initially coming to Montreal to work at Expo 67, Georges and Susie drove across Canada to settle permanently in the sleepy resort village of Harrison Hot Springs in 1968.

Georges worked as the pastry chef at the Harrison Hotel until opening his own shop in 1972, the Echo Chocolate Boutique, selling handmade chocolates, pastries, and other delicious treats for 33 years.

Over the years he was heavily involved in the Chamber of Commerce, Volunteer Fire Department, Search and Rescue, and countless community events. He touched many lives and hearts; we will forever remember his sharp wit and intellect, his beautiful eyes, his gentle kindness, and his wonderful humour.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, and in honour of Georges, please have a delicious treat and a cup of coffee with someone you love.
