Helene MacPherson, nee Kerbrat, passed away on Saturday, October 3rd in Abbotsford, B.C. She was born on August 21, 1935 on a farm in St. Laurent, Manitoba. Helene was she youngest of ten children.
She loved working on the farm with her parents and siblings. After high school, Helene studied in Winnipeg to become a teacher. She taught in Manitoba for 2 years before moving in 1957 to Agassiz, B.C. Helene taught at many schools, including Seabird Island, Chehalis, Kitwancool, and Tache Day Schools for an additional 30 years.
Helene met Robert Lloyd MacPherson in Agassiz, B.C., marrying him in 1965. They lived on the MacPherson farm for 2 years before purchasing their own home (across and down the street), when their first child, Marla, was born. Three years later their second child, Mark, was born.
Helene is survived by her children, Marla (Khalad), Mark (Kim); grandchildren, Fatima, Yasmine, and Kalum (Emily); step grandchildren, Chase (Kathrina), Colton (Kailey), Zachary (Amanda), Brodie (Kayla), and 5 step-great-grandchildren, Zeke, Elizabeth, Evie, Triton, and Raider; her sisters, Clothilde DelRizzo, Angeline Otto (Wolfgang), and her brother, Dominique Kerbrat.
She was predeceased by her parents, Herve Kerbrat and MarieAnne (Lavoie); her husband, Robert; her brothers, Herve and Jean Kerbrat, and her sisters, AnnaMarie (Perrault), Rosalie (Sasnow),MarieJeanne (Guillou), and MariePaule Kerbrat.
Helene enjoyed being with her family, travelling, playing cards and games, speaking French, and supporting the Catholic Church, School, and Community.
She will be missed by many.
