Hermann was born in Santiago, Chile and passed away peacefully at Logan Manor in Agassiz, BC. He was predeceased by his wife, Erika, in 2011. He is survived by family in Germany: sisters Ulrike and Hadwig, brother Konrad (Ingrid), nephews and nieces and friends in Canada, Germany and Chile
