Jean Rowena Clayton
September 1, 1929 - January 15, 2017
It is with the heaviest of hearts that we say goodbye to our beloved mother, Jean Rowena Clayton. She passed away peacefully on January 15th, 2017 at the age of 87, with her children by her side. Mom was predeceased by her adored husband, Jack in 2010. She is survived by her children; Caryn (Greg), Mark and Lara (Kent, Jacob and Jessica) as well as her brothers Bob (Nanci) and Don (Diane) and many nieces and nephews. She was born in Teeswater, Ontario to William and Mary Thompson on September 1, 1929, the eldest of their four children. Our mother was an amazing woman, the devoted and loving wife of her true soulmate and husband, Jack and the most devoted caring and nurturing mother of their three children. Mom was proud of a long list of achievements and interests in her life. These included obtaining her teaching degree from the University of Western Ontario and teaching French and Phys Ed. at the high school level; becoming a champion water skier, earning her pilot's license and flying a Piper Tri Acer and even fashion modeling. Mom also developed a lifelong passion for the sport of tennis, winning several club championships both here in BC and in Palm Springs. We would like to sincerely thank Jane and the staff at The Cheam Residences in Agassiz, as well as the various caregivers at Nurse Next Door and Home Care who demonstrated such care and devotion to Mom over the last two and a half years. We would also like to say a huge thank you to the entire staff working in the P.A.T.H. unit at Chilliwack General Hospital. Your compassion and devotion to our Mom's care and comfort in her final weeks was nothing short of incredible. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 27th at 2:00 pm at the Chilliwack United Church, 45835 Spadina Ave., Chilliwack. A celebration of Jean's life will follow in the adjoining hall.
