Mary Leyen
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our wife, mother and grandmother on March 11, 2017 at Cheam Village in Agassiz. Mary was born in Jarrow, England on May 8, 1936. After graduating as a nurse and midwife, Mary emigrated to Canada in 1961. She worked for many years in maternity at Chilliwack and Abbotsford Hospitals. After marrying Peter in 1963, they raised their four children in Sumas Prairie. In 1986, they purchased Glenwood Care Center and for the last 30 years, Mary and Peter have dedicated their lives to providing care and services to older people in our community. Mary's family would like to give a sincere thank you to the staff at Cheam Village for the amazing care provided over the last year. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Agassiz at 11 am Friday, March 17. A light lunch will follow at 12pm.
All are welcome! Mary was greatly loved and will be missed.
