Jun 27, 1942 - May 10, 2018
Mike was born in Weston-super-Mare, England. He spent his formative years with his family in Sri Lanka where his father was stationed in the RAF. At an early age, he began working in a zoo after school which began his livelong love of elephants.

At the age of 16 he went to sea school with the P&O Shipping Line where he learned the art of bartending and travelled the world on cruise ships.

He came to Harrison Hot Springs in 1965, and worked at the Harrison Hotel (the Resort) as a bartender for 28 years.

In the late 70s, while still working at the hotel, he and Margaret opened "The Cocktail Shaker" and he began teaching bartending in the back while Margaret ran the gift shop in the front. He also wrote a cocktail book that was sold all over BC.

They opened up DragonFly Gifts in Harrison in 1988 which they enjoyed running for 25 years.

Retiring from the Harrison Hotel at 50, he opened the Cornflower Tea House just down the sidewalk from DragonFly.

Mike fell in love with Costa Rica and spent 15 winters there learning Spanish and enjoying the sun.

Predeceased by his mother Joyce, father James, and sister Elaine George.

He is survived my his wife Margaret, daughter Michelle Graves (Mike), daughter Rilla (Adam), grandchildren Alex (Kristen), Tera, and Shaun (Maryssa), nephew Andrew George (Meghan) and many friends who will all miss his sense of humour.

Special thanks go out to the caring help from Fraser Health Home Care, Sean Young, and nurses at the Agassiz Health Clinic.

He passed away after a long illness peacefully at his home. There will be no service at Mike's request.
