Long time former resident Nellie Bonozew/Fedorkew (nee Grypuik) passed away on July 10th at the Marion Hospice of Vancouver General Hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer.

She and her husband Nick Fedorkew resided in Agassiz and raised their three children here. Nick was a carpenter and built many of the Agassiz homes, some of which still stand today. After his death in 1960, Nellie worked in the Laundry of the Harrison Hotel for a number of years. Nellie later remarried and moved to Vancouver where she resided until her death.

She was predeceased by her husbands, Nick (1960) and Sandy (2006); mother and father, Fred and Mary Grypuik; brothers Bill, Joe, Mark, Sam, and John.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and is survived by her sons, Michael (Muriel), Ivan (Ruth), and daughter Irene Fedorkew, Steve (Elma), sisters-in-law Helen Grypuik and Gurty Grypuik, grandchildren Allan (Lisa) Fedorkew, Karen (Michael Miller), Stephen (Angela) Fedorkew, Terry Fedorkew (James), Johnny (Glory-Ann) Antufueay, and Dale Antufueay, and eight great grandchildren.

A grave side service will be held on August 10th at 1:00 p.m. at the Valley View Cemetery in Agassiz, after which a tea will be served at 1701 Beaman Drive, at the home of her son, Michael Fedorkew.
