November 7, 1932 - May 9, 2021
Norma passed away peacefully on Mother's Day at the Mayfair Senior Living + Care Home in Abbotsford.
She is survived by son Wesley, and twin sister Louise Olsen, and was predeceased by her husband Ross, daughter Corrine, parents Fred and Hilda McDonald, and sister Joyce Johnson.
She was born in Ocean Falls, BC and grew up in Prince Rupert with her family. Norma and her sister, Louise, worked at the Miller Bay Hospital in Prince Rupert in the administration office after finishing high school.
In 1953 they both moved to Calgary where Norma worked at the City of Calgary transit office. She met Ross while living in Calgary and they married in 1957. In 1967 they moved to BC and lived in a number of communities including Williams Lake, Comox, Duncan, Nelson, Agassiz and finally Abbotsford.
She and Ross enjoyed spending time with family, camping and travelling. She spent time working on crafts and puzzles and enjoyed baking and cooking. And she was a huge dog person, always having dogs as part of her family over the years.
Norma had more than her share of health issues in her later years and, when her husband passed away in 2014, she moved in to the Cottage Pavilion where she lived for two years before she moved to the Mayfair Senior Living + Care Home in October 2016.
Wesley and Louise would like to express their gratitude to the staff at both homes for the care and support they gave Norma over the years. She suffered from dementia, but her face would always light up with a huge smile when family, friends and staff spent time with her.
Interment will be at Valley View Cemetery in Agassiz. Friends and relatives wishing to do so may make a donation to a charity of their choice in lieu of flowers. Tributes and condolences may be left at: www.hendersonsabbotsfordfunerals.com
