May 24, 1928 - August 24, 2021
In Loving Memory ~ Ruth passed away August 24th, 2021 at the age of 93, after more than 10 weeks in Chilliwack Hospital. This was her last adventure in a life filled with such fearless experiences. Coincidentally she came into the world on the 24th day of a month. That was May 24, 1928.
Sadly she lost her best pal, jokester, love of her life, and husband - Rudy in October 2005. They met while working at The Harrison Hotel, where they stayed working until their retirement. She thought of and missed Rudy every day since, especially during TV football games when she had no one there beside her to debate the strategy of the game. Oh what fun they had together!
Ruth had a secret shoe addiction, and subtly impressed everyone with her adventurous style in that regard. The moment she found something she liked in her shoe size (which was 11), she had to have a pair. Some she also wore right to the end. They too didn't survive beyond that point.
As much socialization as possible was truly what Ruth lived for; especially when it came to dancing and partying as a young women, going alone to Bermuda when most women didn`t do that sort of thing; and later playing cribbage, and participating in seniors activities in Agassiz.
Her sense of humor, kindness, and boisterous laugh was always loved and appreciated by everyone.
Ruth was the last survivor sibling of eight in her immediate family after losing her youngest brother in 2018. Her oldest brother died while fighting with the allies in a serious battle in France during WWII. Two other brothers who also served in other countries of Europe survived and came home to start families and make nieces and nephews for Ruth.
She had no children of her own, but was close to her nieces and nephews both regionally and in Ontario, as well as some of her great nieces from there. Daily telephone conversations became routine with several of us. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She was our friend and source of encouragement. We were lucky to know her.
At this time there will not be any memorial service. It is hoped that a celebration of Ruth`s wonderful life will take place in the future. Donations to the charity of your choice in Memory of Ruth are greatly appreciated. She was very lucky too!
