Aug 11, 1931 - Jan 9, 2018
Our loving mother, grandmother and Oma,  Therese Josephine Werring (Theresa or Trees), 86, of Agassiz, BC, died peacefully in her sleep on January 9, 2018, at the Cascade Hospice in Chilliwack, BC. after a lengthy battle with heart disease.  Loving family members were at her side.

Born August 11, 1931 in Utrecht, the Netherlands, she is predeceased by her late and beloved husband Dirk Antonius Werring who passed away in 2001.

She emigrated to Canada from Holland following her marriage to Dirk in1952. When he joined the Canadian military in 1954, she took on the role of military spouse. As a result, she lived and worked in many locations within Canada and Europe, ultimately retiring in Agassiz, BC in 1976. She showed great strength of character and adaptability raising four children while dealing with frequent moves, lengthy separations from her husband, and job changes and having to learn new languages.

While in Agassiz, she was a long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion and worked at the Harrison Hotel for many years. She loved playing darts and euchre, carpet bowling, and floor curling. She also LOVED to fish at the river and while camping with her daughter and son-in-law. Having a competitive nature, she frequently out-fished them, with a smile, of course.

Theresa is survived by her four children Larry Werring (Pembroke, ON), John Werring (Surrey, BC), Dirk Werring (Logan Lake, BC), and daughter Maria Morrow (Agassiz, BC). She had 10 grandchildren scattered across the country, and 4 great-grandchildren. She also has numerous family members still in the Netherlands who are also grieving her loss.

There will be no formal service by her request. She will be cremated and a private family service and burial will be held at the Agassiz Valley View Cemetery on her wedding anniversary in May. It is when the butterflies return.

If so desired, memorial donations may be made to the Cascade Hospice in Chilliwack, BC,  the Canadian Breast Cancer Society, and the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

"Don't weep at my grave, for I am not there, I've a date with a butterfly to dance in the air. I'll be singing in the sunshine, wild and free, Playing tag with the wind, while I'm waiting for thee."
