Vera Striker

May 14, 1914 ~ January 27, 2017

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of a long time resident of Agassiz, Vera Striker, a mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Born in Kelliher Saskatchewan, she married Fred Striker in December 1935. They had 6 children. They relocated to Agassiz in 1948 where they raised their children. Vera was very active playing carpet bowling and floor curling. You could always see her riding her bike (which she learnt to ride at the age of 61). When riding was too much for her, she would walk for miles. In the evenings you could often find her playing cards, scrabble or making quilts and pajamas for her grandchildren. Vera was an active member of the United Church, Friendship House, Agassiz-Harrison Museum and the Agassiz Thrift Store up until the age of 80 or more.

Vera's main pride was her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was excited when they came to visit and always had cookies and tea with them. She taught them how to play cards, scrabble, to knit, crochet and sew. She was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Fred in 2004, son Gwellyn 2015; grandsons Bradley, 1969 and Clinton, 2011; Blair Henry, 2008. Survived by her children; Lloyd, Clarence Amy), Stanley (Jean), Valdeane (Ken), Ted (Lorna), 16 grandchildren & 28 great grandchildren. In the eyes of her family she will shine forever and the memories will never fade. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
