July 30, 1940 - April 21, 2022
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Wayne Ignatius Denis from his Chilliwack home on the morning of April 21, 2022, to his eternal home at the age of 81.
Wayne is predeceased by his wife Dorothea and brother Vaughn, however survived by his three children Chris (Sheila), Kathryn and Matthew (Cheryl) Denis; four grandchildren, Ashley (Nico), Carmen, Logan and Finnigan; and two great-grandchildren, Mia and Leo.
Wayne was born in Prince Rupert, BC July 30, 1940, to parents Ignatius and Doris Denis. The family settled in Chilliwack in 1947, which Wayne then called home until his passing. He graduated from CSS in 1958, and while serving as a summer camp counselor in the Gulf Islands, met the love of his life Dorothea. They were married in 1962 then off to England for their "extended honeymoon", where he worked at the Bristol Aircraft Company on components for the prototype Concord.
Returning to Chilliwack in 1963, Wayne obtained his journeyman's refrigeration ticket, then opened Denis Refrigeration & Air-Conditioning in 1970, which served the community until 2010. Wayne's love of flight led him to obtain his private pilots license in 1974, and subsequently fly with wife and co-pilot Dorothea, all over North America to conferences and holidays for many years. When their flying days ended, they took to the road, "glamping" and attending Bluegrass festivals around the Pacific NW.
Over the years, he faithfully served the Church, Christian Pilots Association and Fellowship of Companies for Christ in various capacities.
Wayne will be missed. However, we are comforted knowing he is with Jesus his Lord and Savior and look forward to when we will meet again face-to-face.
A celebration of life and faith will be held at Chilliwack Alliance Church 1:30 PM on Monday, May 30, 2022.
"We will be taken up in the clouds. We will meet the Lord in the air. And we will be with him forever." - 1 Thessalonians 4:17b
