Couch potatoes, rise from your perches. Gym fans, step it up.

For the first time since 2020, the District of Kent is participating in Participaction this June. Dubbing the program "Step-Up Kent," the Community Recreation and Cultural Centre is kicking off the month with seniors' week June 1 to 7. Anyone aged 60 or older gets free access to the weight room, gym and open swims at the Ferny Coombe Pool.

Outside of district events, anyone can participate in Participaction in support of the District of Kent. Participaction's Community Challenge runs June 1 to 30 as communities across the country compete to win the title of Canada's Most Active Community and $100,000 to support local sport an physical activity initiatives. You can participate in the challenge as an organization or as an individual.

Last year, Hay River, Northwest Territories – population approximately 3,100 – was awarded the grand prize.
