The newly-formed Chilliwack Optimist Eagles Youth Dragon Boat Team finished their 2013 year with their first ever regatta appearance.
The young club competed in the Harrison Dragon Boat Regatta on Saturday, and came in fourth of all the youth teams participating. The Eagles even beat some of the adult teams throughout the day's races.
Coach Manfred Preuss says the team is recruiting for the next year already, and there will be a brief learn-to-paddle program starting in the middle of September. The team is open to paddlers aged 12 to 18, and the team is funded by the Chilliwack Optimists.
