Local boats rock regatta

Fraser Valley Dragonboat Club teams brought home several medals and a trophy from the Harrison DragonFest, held last weekend on Harrison Lake.

Sixty one teams and 1500 paddlers competed in the annual dragon boat regatta.

FVDBC’s newly- formed women’s team (the Seraphins) grabbed silver in the women’s C division, while the  Thunderstrokers took bronze in the consolation C division.

The Crusaders won the rec C championship with a scorching time of 2:23.990, with the Mavericks winning silver in the same division.

The Pirates won the club challenge award.

Other local boats making waves included the Water Warriors, who placed first in the women’s B division with a time of 3:37.510.

The Cultus Lake Dragon Flyers finished third in the women’s A championship with a time of 2:31.070.

The Sudden Impact Black team finished first in the mixed A championship with a time of 2:10.030.

Blue Impact placed second in the mixed D consolation group with a time of 2:34.240.

The next regatta is in Victoria Aug. 12-13.
