The University of the Fraser Valley Cascades golf teams recently had excellent showings at the Southwestern Oregon Community College Invitational in Bandon, Ore. earlier this month.
The event, which occurred at the Bandon Dunes Golf Resort on May 14 and 15, saw UFV’s Emery Bardock capture the women’s individual title with rounds of +7 (78) and +3 (75). The entire UFV team, which also consisted of Lucy Park, Avery Biggar and Coral Hamade all finished in the top-10 to clinch the team victory for the Cascades.
The team score of +18 was tops, while Park finished fourth +19, Biggar was sixth (+21) and Hamade was seventh (+22).

“Overall, everybody played quite well. Avery was a rockstar yesterday, and obviously Emery had the lead, so when everyone is contributing it makes it a lot less stressful and everyone can just go play golf and not really worry about what they need to do,” stated women’s head coach Cody Stewart. “There are a lot of ways to get yourself in trouble out here, but she kept her ball in play, putted well and overall was just steady. It’s great to see her step up, and I think its incredibly special for her to get a win at a place like this.”
It’s a team win - and four individual top 10 finishes - for the Cascades women’s golf team in the SWOCC Invitational at Bandon Dunes! 🏆🏆

The men’s team saw Jackson Jacob finish at a combined -4 to finish atop the individual leaderboard, with the Cascades placing second in the team category.
UFV finished just behind Bellevue College in the team standings. Other UFV results included: Eli Greene (sixth - +2), Andrew Biggar (10th - +6), Jacob Armstrong (tied for 11th - +7), Ben Whiton (t-14th - +8) and Hayden Prive (22nd - +11).
“I thought we played pretty well,” stated men’s head coach Aaron Pauls. “We had a few too many little mistakes that cost us down the stretch on day two, but all in all that’s our best event of the spring so far. Jackson is playing really well right now. Between his results lately in a few individual events, and especially winning here, it’s great to see.”
The next big event for both team is the final event of the season - the Canadian University/ College Championship at the Fire Rock Golf Club in Komoka, Ont. from May 30 to June 2.
