UPDATE: A semi-truck burning on Mount Woodside Tuesday slowed traffic and caused an internet and cable outage across the District of Kent.

The Agassiz fire department appeared to have the fire under control by 2 p.m. and confirms that no one was hurt in the incident.

According to the Agassiz Fire Department, the blaze ripped through the town’s main communication line. Reports from around Agassiz showed many residents, users of Shaw and Telus, were without cable or internet for most of the day.

An online statement from Shaw confirmed that some customers around Agassiz and surrounding areas would experience interruptions to cable, internet and home phone services.

Most internet services across the District of Kent were restored by Wednesday morning but there were still complaints of cable outages.
