On the front page of the last Observer, there is a teacher holding a placard stating “100,000 oversized classes”. I hope he is not teaching math.
If there are 100,000 oversized classes with an average of 25 pupils per class (that’s minimal oversize) then there must be 2,500,000 pupils in public schools in BC. That’s more than half the population of the whole province.
I empathize with the teachers, but their public relations needs a swift kick in the pants. When you over-exaggerate your problem to get my support I am not impressed and less willing to help.
