The final leg of Zack Martyn’s uphill battle drew to a close this week.
Between online and cash donations, Martyn’s gruelling No Fun Run raised a grand total of $4,197 to support Agassiz-Harrison Community Services
“I want to stress this – I am not the hero, you are,” Martyn wrote on the fundraiser’s Facebook page. “I didn’t help anyone; they do! The money you donated does nothing without the hard-working people behind the organization. They are the well-oiled machine that turns your money into helpful services for a community. Thank them, thank each other, you all did something really good.”
Martyn told The Observer after a couple days of pain, he was feeling relatively normal again. He said between 30 and 40 people periodically joined him in climbing the hill leading up to Harrison Hot Springs’ water tower 161 times – enough laps to “climb” the height of Mount Everest.
