Harrison Polar Bear Swim 2021 cancelled

HHSFD firefighters ask you to consider donating to AHCS all the same

It’s another annual tradition that’s been put on ice – for now.

The Harrison Hot Springs Fire Department issued an announcement on Tuesday (Dec. 22) that the annual Polar Bear Swim has been cancelled for 2021. HHSFD representatives ask that those who wanted to participate to consider continuing donations to the local food bank.

The upcoming swim would’ve been the third annual event for Harrison, serving to benefit Agassiz Harrison Community Services. More than 70 people signed up for the first swim, which was an idea that came up during a Christmas party and was brought together in less than three weeks. This year, more than 100 swimmers participated, jumping into Harrison Lake, which was a toasty 12 degrees Celsius in 2020 (2o19’s temps dipped into the single digits).
