The B.C. and Yukon Community Newspaper Association (BCYCNA) recognized Observer editor Adam Louis this weekend.

Louis received gold for arts and culture writing for his story on a series of four murals from Coast Salish artist Carrielynn Victor (Xémontalot), commissioned for the Fraser-Cascade School District. The story was originally published in August 2023.

The awards ceremony was at the Polygon Gallery in North Vancouver on Saturday, April 20, attended by editors, photographers, publishers and other industry professionals from across the province and Yukon. The awards cover 45 categories across multiple aspects of the newspaper industry, highlighting advertising design, breaking news, reporting and more.
