More details surrounding the 75th anniversary celebration of Harrison Hot Springs’ incorporation have been released.

Village officials have announced the big celebration will take place in the overflow parking lot north of the village office (495 Hot Springs Road) from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 31.

To help commemorate the incorporation, the village is asking residents to submit photos of the village for the big event. The photos can show off the natural beauty of the area, the views in Harrison or the history of the village.

The village began planning the May 31 celebration back in March in hopes of celebrating the village’s incorporation, which took place back on May 27, 1949. When the village was incorporated, it had the largest surface area of any village in the province at the time, spanning 2,020 acres. In 2004, the village officially changed its name from the Corporation of the Village of Harrison Hot Springs to the Village of Harrison Hot Springs.

The village was named after Benjamin Harrison, who is the former deputy governor of the Hudson’s Bay Company.
