Agassiz residents might have noticed the city sidewalks are dressed in holiday style. Is there a feeling of Christmas in the air?

Perhaps this is because the District of Kent’s Winter Night Lights is on and running until Dec. 31.

There are two festive events during Winter Night Lights, the first of which kicks off at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11. Live music plays at the Pioneer Park gazebo from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Frank Kozel plays at the Aberdeen Stage from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The following Saturday, Dec. 18, Ryan McAllister performs on the Aberdeen Stage from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., followed by Mercer Munn at the gazebo from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

On both days, food trucks Barking Irons Roastery and Rolled West Coast will be on hand from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. for hot beverages and treats. The mini-passenger train runs through Pioneer Park from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.; train rides are by donation with proceeds going toward the Agassiz-Harrison Historical Society. The Agassiz-Harrison Museum will host Christmas-themed crafts for ages 3 to 12. Santa will make early visits from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the gazebo on Dec. 11 and from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 18.

Not only is Winter Night Lights a great time to take in the district’s decorations along Pioneer Avenue, but it’s an opportunity to support local businesses during the busy holiday shopping season. Participating businesses will offer in-store specials complimentary shop local bags with purchase through Dec. 13 while supplies last.
