MUNICIPAL ELECTION 2022: Back-to-back all-candidates meetings set for next week

Meetings will also be broadcast live online

Locals will soon have the chance to assess the 13 candidates who are competing for municipal office in the District of Kent and Harrison Hot Springs.

The Harrison-Agassiz Chamber of Commerce is hosting back-to-back all-candidate meetings for District of Kent and Harrison candidates. Harrison’s all-candidates meeting takes place first on Sept. 28 at Memorial Hall (290 Esplanade Avenue), followed by the District of Kent at the Agricultural Hall (6800 Pioneer Avenue) on Sept. 29. Both meetings run from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Director Rob Hole will serve as the moderator. You may anonymously submit questions to the candidates up until Monday, Sept. 26 using an online form linked to the chamber’s Facebook page or by emailing info@harrison.ca.

There are five candidates running for District of Kent Council – Verna Dandenault and incumbents Duane Post, Kerstin Schwichtenberg, Susan Spaeti and Stan Watchorn. Mayor Sylvia Pranger has bene re-elected by acclamation.

In Harrison Hot Springs, there are three candidates for mayor: John Allen, incumbent Coun. Samantha Piper and Ed Wood. For four seats on council, five candidates are running: John Buckley, incumbent Mayor Leo Facio, Leslie Ghezesan, Allan Jackson and incumbent Coun. Michie Vidal.
