Take part in Chilliwack’s 15th annual Quiz Night at the downtown library

Hosted by the Friends of the Chilliwack Library Society, the event fundraises for local libraries

Can you work well under pressure? Are you quick on the draw, and enjoy a challenge? Is your brain an endless vault for both useful and useless information? Do you love to read? If you answered yes, then you’re just who the Friends of the Chilliwack Libraries Society is looking for.

On Friday, Oct. 12, the Chilliwack Library will be hosting the 15th annual Quiz Night on behalf of the Chilliwack Libraries Society: all money raised goes directly back into Chilliwack’s three library branches.

“The whole purpose of (the event) is to earn funds,” explained Heather Siegrist, who’s organized the fundraiser for the past three years.

“All funds we raise go towards the library so they can make purchases their budget doesn’t extend to, like summer reading programs … or rugs for the children to sit on. (The need for stuff) is always ongoing.”

Our local libraries “want to offer as many programs to the citizens of Chilliwack as possible and sometimes they need help,” said Siegrist.

Which is where the Society comes in. On their 25th anniversary, Siegrist, who was the former president for four years, says the Society had donated $125,000. “It’s probably closer to $160,000 now because we’re at 28 or 29 years.”

Tickets to Quiz Night only cost $13, and in addition to helping out a great cause and having an awesome time, participants also get to walk away with a free book, can whet their palate on the light refreshments provided at intermission, and will have the opportunity to win a gift basket full of stuff donated by merchants in the community.

And with only 114 tickets printed, spots for Quiz Night are limited, and on a first-come, first-served basis. However, Siegrist adds that if all tickets are not sold by the time the event starts, the remaining will be for sale at the door.

To purchase your ticket and participate in a fun community event that improves the city in which we live, stop by the Chilliwack FVRL branch during regular business hours.
