Three local seats on the School District 78 board are being contested during the Oct. 15 election.

Incumbents Wendy Colman-Lawley and Marilyn Warren are running for re-election while incumbent trustee Ron Johnstone is not.

Colman-Lawley has more than 20 years of experience as an educator in a variety of roles. She said it is the board’s responsibility to adapt to changing academic needs to help students secure the best opportunities for themselves and to become independent, resilient, socially responsible adults.

Warren has lived in Agassiz for more than 30 years and has worked with a number of local organizations, including the Legion, the Agassiz Centre for Education and the Lions Club. In past campaigns, she has advocated for closer community involvement in schools and securing more funding for students and staff living with disabilities.

Newcomers Wendy Clark and Andrea Hansen will also be running for school board this election.
