An Agassiz sex offender facing additional charges is scheduled to undergo a court-ordered psychiatric evaluation.
Ivan Styles currently faces two charges: one count of possession of child pornography in Agassiz and one count of breach of release order in Chilliwack seven months later.
A psychiatric or psychological exam and report are used in the court setting when a doctor’s report on the mental fitness of the accused is needed or when an application has been submitted to determine whether or not an offender can be classified as dangerous.

Last May, Styles was arrested at his Agassiz home for possession of child pornography, a charge tying back to an incident that allegedly took place the previous month. He was already on probation after being convicted of three counts of possession of child pornography and two counts of breach of undertaking or recognizance in October 2021. Styles was handed a nine-month conditional sentence order and four years on probation.
Styles was arrested earlier in 2023 for allegedly breaching court-ordered conditions. Agassiz RCMP investigated and discovered what they believed to be child pornography on one of Styles’ devices, which led to the May 2023 arrest.
