Harrison Hot Springs Mayor Ed Wood ordered the March 18 council meeting to be cancelled, per an announcement posted on social media on Friday, March 15.

There have been at least three other regular council meetings that have been cancelled since the October 2023 election.

No specific reason was published as to why the meeting was cancelled. Items on the draft agenda included Ross Buchanan appearing as a delegate to discuss interface fire prevention and mitigation, the third reading of the Official Community Plan and considering regularly scheduled closed council meetings.

Several items from the March 6 meeting appeared on the March 18 agenda after the March 6 meeting fell apart. Wood asked Coun. Michie Vidal to leave after she asked for clarification on a motion. This resulted in Coun. Allen Jackson, Coun. Leo Facio and eventually everyone in the gallery ordered out of the meeting. Wood called for adjournment due to lost quorum despite all members of council still being present.

The next regular Harrison Hot Springs Village Council meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 2, at 7 p.m. at the village office (495 Hot Springs Road). The meeting venue is subject to change.

Online attendance is also available via Zoom; those interested can register through harrisonhotsprings.ca. Video recordings of the meetings will be archived on the village’s YouTube page.
