The body of a 65-year-old rower reported missing last week was discovered in Abbotsford on Saturday (June 8).
According to the Abbotsford Police Department (APD), the RCMP's dive team found the body in the Sumas River after an extensive search.
"Investigators had the coroner attend and at this point in time no foul play is suspected to have occurred surrounding the rower’s unfortunate death," APD media officer Const. Art Stele said.
The man was last seen in the Sumas River on Wednesday evening (June 5).
The Abbotsford Police Department (APD), RCMP dive team, Air 1 police helicopter, Central Fraser Valley Search and Rescue, Abbotsford Fire Rescue Services, BC Emergency Health Services, and a boat undertook a search.
The RCMP’s dive team investigated the area where the missing rower was last seen, and the body was discovered as a result.
Police will not provide further details out of courtesy to the deceased’s family, Stele said.
