An inmate at Kent Institution has died.
Correctional Service Canada reports Brodie Tyrel Takahashi Robinson died in custody on Thursday, Oct. 5. Robinson was serving time for discharging a firearm, assault of a peace officer with a weapon and obstruction of public/peace officer since Feb. 12, 2020.
Robinson was convicted alongside Jonathan David Olson in 2019 for a series of incidents during the Canada Day weekend of 2017. Both Robinson and Olson were tied to gangs, and both play ed a part in the shooting of a third gang-connected person in the head, firing the gun from a moving vehicle.

Robinson was sentenced to five-and-a-half-years in prison. He also received a concurrent sentence for one year for possessing a firearm without a license and an additional nine months for possessing cocaine for trafficking purposes. He was credited nine months and 27 days and his net sentence was five years, five months and three days.
Robinson’s next of kin has been notified.
As with all cases involving the death of an inmate in custody, the CSC will investigate the circumstances of the death. Police and the B.C. Coroners Service have also been notified.
