Crash before Hope causes Highway 3 westbound lane to close

Drivers should expect delays on the Coquihalla Highway

Update: 3:10 p.m.

The accident has been cleared and DriveBC said drivers should still expect “delays as the congestion clears.” The eastbound lane and middle lanes will remain closed for barrier repairs.

According to Zeeman Christa on the Coquihalla Road Reports (And Area) Facebook page, the accident was caused by a vehicle’s “flipped travel trailer.”

Original:

Drivers hoping to leave Hope via the Coquihalla Highway should expect delays thanks to an accident just before Old Hope-PrincetonWay, says DriveBC.

Traffic is backed up on Highway 3 due to the accident, which took place on the westbound lane between Exit 177 and Exit 173.

Currently, both westbound lanes are closed. The eastbound left lane is also closed due to the concrete barrier being damaged in the incident.

Updates to follow.
