Agassiz residents witnessed Emergency Response Team (ERT) officers in the downtown core.
Upper Fraser Valley RCMP Detachment (UFVRD) spokesperson Cpl. Carmen Kiener confirmed that on Monday, members of the Chilliwack and Agassiz RCMP were in the Highway 9-Morrow Road area along with ERT officers to execute a search warrant.
“ERT attended out of an abundance of caution for police and public safety,” Kiener told The Observer.
Residents witnessed an indeterminate number of people placed in handcuffs.
ERT officers are usually on scene during high-risk situations, which may include resolving incidents that involve armed people or barricades.
