A former candidate for Harrison Village Council is disqualified from holding or running for elected office until after the 2026 election.

According to a recently-released report from the village’s corporate officer Amanda Graham, Leslie Ghesezan failed to file a disclosure statement for the September 2023 by-election. A disclosure statement details campaign finances, expenses and surpluses.

Ghezesan had until Dec. 15 to fill a disclosure statement – 90 days after general voting day. He also missed the late filing deadline, which was Jan. 15. On Jan. 17, Elections B.C. notified the village that Ghezesan had not filed his disclosure statement after the Jan. 15 deadline and would therefore be subject to penalties. He is now one of about 70 candidates across the province – including SD78 board candidate Marilyn Warren – disqualified from being nominated for, elected to or holding office until after Oct. 17, 2026.

Ghezesan ran for council in 2014, 2018 and 2022. His statement for the 2022 general election campaign claimed $0 in expenses or contributions.
