Harrison Hot Springs officials are attempting another special council meeting scheduled for Tuesday, April 30.

The agenda is simple with only two items – adoption of the 2024-2028 budget and, if that passes, give the first three readings to the tax rate bylaw.

The meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon at the village office council chambers at 495 Hot Springs Road, rather than the usual meeting place at Memorial Hall (290 Esplanade Avenue). Attendance is also available via Zoom.

The previous meeting on April 23 ended in collapse after just over 15 minutes when Mayor Ed Wood alleged the meeting was illegal because no notice was posted outside Memorial Hall; the meeting took place at the village office.

Municipalities must adopt their financial plans before they adopt an annual tax rate bylaw, which must be adopted before May 15 every year.
