It’s a lovely weekend for a hike.

The Dike Hike for Friends of the Dikes and the public takes place Saturday, Oct. 1 at 10 a.m. starting at the parking lot at the east end of McDonald Road (past the Fraser River Lodge). Walkers will hike Section 1 McDonald Road to the Scott Road Dike, which would last about one and a half hours maximum. No pre-registration is necessary

Friends of the Dikes is a group of residents advocating for the District of Kent’s 19-kilometre-long dike system to be opened to “non-motorized public recreational use.” This includes walking, running, cycling and walking dogs.

In addition to being advocates for local recreation on the local dikes, Friends of the Dikes also helps keep local dikes clean from litter and dog feces.
