Inmate assaulted at Kent Instituion

An injured inmate at Kent Institution was found to be the vicitim of an assault. According to Correctional Service Canada, on Oct. 1 the inmate of the maximum-security federal institution was transported to outside hospital for treatment and has since been returned.

An injured inmate at Kent Institution was found to be the vicitim of an assault. According to Correctional Service Canada, on Oct. 1 the inmate of the maximum-security federal institution was transported to outside hospital for treatment and has since been returned.

The assailant has been identified and CSC has taken action against them. The Agassiz RCMP and CSC are both investigating.

“The safety and security of institutions, their staff and the public remains the highest priority in the operations of the federal correctional system,” The CSC stated. “The Correctional Service of Canada will investigate the circumstances of this incident and continue to work with the police.”
