Correctional Service Canada reported another assault at Kent Institution.
On Sunday, Oct. 23, an inmate was discovered to be the victim of an assault at the maximum-security federal institution. The inmate was evaluated, transported to outside hospital and eventually returned to CSC custody.
The Agassiz RCMP and CSC are investigating the incident. The assailant has been identified and actions have been taken.
“The safety and security of institutions, their staff and the public remains the highest priority in the operations of the federal correctional system,” The CSC stated. “In order to improve practices aimed at preventing this type of incident, CSC will review the circumstances of the incident and take the appropriate measures.”
There have been at least eight inmates assaulted at Kent Institution this year.
