UPDATED: Filming of “Purple Harvest” has been postponed due to rainy weather.
Revised filming notifications state filming will occur Tuesday and Wednesday, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Traffic will be closed off from the 7000 block of Pioneer Avenue during filming.
The seemingly “secret” project is executive produced by Mary McLaglen and directed by Drew Goddard, best known for directing the 2012 horror film The Cabin in the Woods and writing the horror science fiction movie Cloverfield.
Although not verified by production company TCF Vancouver Productions, the film is also being referred to online as “Bad Times at the El Royale,” which is cast with big names like Chris Hemsworth, Jeff Bridges and Cynthia Erivo.

A filming notice letter from production company TCF Vancouver Productions Ltd. says it will be filming a Christmas holidays scene set in the 1950s on Pioneer Avenue between Highway 9 and Park Street.
Parking will be intermittently disrupted along the street as scenes will involve simulated snow effects, stunt driving and performers brandishing fire arms, according to the most recent filming notification released to businesses along Pioneer Avenue.
The notice says desiginated production staff and certified traffic control will be on site to aid pedestrians and motorists in safely navigating the set. Busineeses will remain open during filming.
Stay tuned for updates.
