There are only a few spots left for a special food waste program for District of Kent residents.

The District recently announced they are closing in on 50 families who are participating in the district’s FoodCycler Pilot Program. The FoodCycler is designed to convert food waste into ready-to-use compost for gardens and plants.

There are two units to choose from – the 2.5-litre FC-30 for $150 and the 5-litre Maestro for $300.

Participants in the program area asked to track their FoodCycler use for 12 weeks, tracking the amount of food waste using a sheet that will be provided by the district. At the end of the 12 weeks, the participants will be asked to fill out a closing survey detailing their experience. Once that’s done, the FoodCycler is theirs to keep.

By the end of May, there were approximately 38 of the 50 spots filled. To sign up and learn more information, visit kentbc.ca.
