$43,000 in contraband seized at Kent Institution

Correctional Service Canada (CSC) officers recently seized more unauthorized items at Kent Institution in Agassiz.

On March 15, CSC officers seized 12 cell phones, charging cables and eight sim cards; these and other seized unauthorized items totaled $43,000 in institutional value.

“The (CSC) is heightening measures to prevent contraband from entering its institutions in order to help ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone,” The CSC wrote in a statement. “CSC also works in partnership with the police to take action against those who attempt to introduce contraband into correctional institutions.”

The CSC has set up a tip line for all federal institutions seeking information for all activities related to institutional security, including drug use and contraband. The toll-free number is 1-866-780-3784. The information shared on this tip line is protected and the callers remain anonymous.
