COVID-19 transmission remains low in Agassiz-Harrison

Four new cases of COVID in local health area

COVID-19 transmission rates across much of the Lower Mainland were low this past week, and Agassiz-Harrison was no exception.

According to the latest data from the B.C. Centre for Disease Control, Agassiz-Harrison reported four new cases of COVID between May 8 and May 15. This puts the 2021 case total at 152 for the local health area, averaging eight cases per week, a slightly lower average from the previous week.

This past week saw a slight uptick in cases from the beginning of May from one to four, continuing a weekly up-and-down trend that has been in place since late March. However, the most recent uptick was much less dramatic than the double-digit spikes seen throughout March and April; the worst spike of the year was reported between April 11 and 17 with 20 new COVID-19 cases.

As of publication there are no public exposures reported to Fraser Health; the early April exposure event at Sasquatch Mountain Resort is officially over. There are no recently reported exposures in Fraser Cascade School District 78.

Vaccination administration throughout Agassiz-Harrison averages more than 300 doses per week and will be running at least through the end of May at the Agassiz Agricultural Hall every Wednesday.
