Teachers in Agassiz rallied together Monday, the first day of rotating strikes that will affect schools through the week.

They camped out in front of AESS and braved the rain with umbrellas and signs. B.C.’s teachers are lobbying for a fair contract, as well as improvements to class size, class composition and other student learning conditions.

Rotating strikes will move through districts Monday to Thursday, as the BC Teachers’ Federation has moved into the second stage of their strike action. Their employer, the B.C. Public School Employers’ Association, responded to their rotating strike action with a decrease in pay.

On Monday afternoon, the government announced they are not planning on legislating an end to the strike.

Fraser Cascade includes schools in Harrison Hot Springs, Agassiz, Hope and Boston Bar.
