A popular destination for off-road enthusiasts near Harrison Lake was the scene of a rescue on Saturday evening.
Kent Harrison Search And Rescue were paged out to assist the Agassiz RCMP and Agassiz Fire Department, after an ATV rolled over near Clear Creek Hot Springs before 6 p.m. Command was set up in Harrison Hot Springs, and rescuers attended the scene and provided medical assistance to two men.
They are reported to have non-life-threatening injuries, and Kent Harrison Search and Rescue team members transported the two further down the Forest Service Road to meet up with paramedics.
The Clear Creek Hot Springs are difficult to access, requiring a four-wheel drive or an all terrain vehicle for the trip, and are located about 50 km into the bush along forest service roads.
According to SAR manager Neil Brewer, this is the eleventh incident the SAR group has responded to this year, which is double the number of incidents in the same time in 2020.
“With the continuation of the trend that’s seeing people recreating locally, those heading into the backcountry need to practice a much higher level of safety and responsibility,” Brewer said in a release
