A man in medical distress missing in the Harrison Mills area was located by Kent Harrison Search and Rescue (KHSAR) early Monday morning.

After the man left for a camping trip ten days earlier, his family grew worried when they discovered he had quit his job and ended a 13-year lease on his home.

While they didn’t know exactly where he had gone camping, the family knew he frequented the Harrison Mills area. A family member said social media was the key to locating the man safely, as multiple posts and shares resulted in tips that led to his location.

After sharing his photo on multiple local Facebook groups, the man’s nephew said people started responding over night.

“We were so blown away by the power of social media, the fact that all these tips came in,” he said. “Even if we hadn’t found him this morning, within half hour of finding him we had tips to exactly where he was, so we would have found him anyways.”

“We just wanted to thank everyone in the social media community.”

The man was found by KHSAR near the Chehalis Forest Service Road, not far from his campsite at the 13-kilometre marker on Morris Valley Road. He was taken to hospital and family said he is in good condition.
