Agassiz will be getting another box of play things for its local residents, this time located at Schep Park.
Back in 2018, the District of Kent received $10,000 from the Pacific Blue Cross to install a Live 5-2-1-0 Playbox in a community park.
These boxes are filled with equipment and instructions for various games to help families follow the 5-2-1-0 lifestyle: eat five or more vegetables and fruit each day, have no more than two hours of screen time each day, play actively for at least one hour each day and consume no sugary drinks.

Families can register for a code that allows them to open the box and use the equipment inside.
The District of Kent already has one Live 5-2-1-0 Playbox in Pioneer Park, which was installed back in 2016. So far, 51 families have registered to use the Pioneer Park box.
In 2018, the district used half of its $10,000 grant to purchase two mobile playboxes that can be signed out from the Community Recreation and Cultural Centre and used anywhere in the community. The remaining $5,000 will go to install a playbox in Schep Park.

According to director of community services and projects Jennifer Thornton, the district decided to install the newest playbox in Schep Park because of the growing family neighbourhood around it.
“We did choose Schep Park primarily because of the amenities there and the tight surrounding of the community,” she said. “It is becoming more of a central neighbourhood park destination.”
The plan, Thornton said, is to put in some different equipment from what is available in the Pioneer Park box, including possibly some basketballs for use in the Schep Park court and road hockey equipment.
